Safety First!!

Hi Everyone,

My name is Ms. Burks, your Campus Safety Supervisor here at Keiller Leadership Academy. This is my fourth year here at KLA. As my position states, I am responsible for campus safety. It is my duty to keep the campus and our students safe.

In 2011, graduated from San Diego State with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. I have been working with children, of all ages and capacities, since 2009. I started working at Helix Charter High School as a Academic Coach. This is when I found my passion for working with children. I worked at Charter School of San Diego as a Classroom Assistant. I was then brought to Vista La Mesa Academy as an Extended Day Program leader. I gained the most experience at New Alternatives, Inc. working with foster children. In the midst of this all, I volunteered at an homeless youth shelter.

My passion for working with the youth population intensifies each year. It gives me great joy to work with young people and watch their progress, small or big.

Outside of school, I enjoy the outdoors. From camping to kayaking to watching the sunsets. My family is huge part of my life and I give thanks to God everyday for blessing me with a great family.
