Monday: Chart - How can we talk about a book with a partner? Text of the Week - The First Book Preview and Read. Chart: Review how to Choose a Novel. Students complete book carousel and choose top three books. Go over binder requirements.HW: Listen to

a song, any song and write down similarities and differences between a poem and a song.(Venn Diagram).

1 1/2" or 2" binder for this class due by next Monday(Any Color or previously used is fine). You can buy one from me for $2.

Tue:Chart - Why do readers abandon books? Text of the Week Read and Annotate. Internet Article- How to have a perfect first day of middle school. Set up graphic organizer for main idea and details. HW: Complete Chartin the MAin Ideas and Details for the Internet Article/

Wed: Chart difference between fiction and non-fiction. Text of the Week -Read and Respond using sentence frames. Magazine Technical Document. Preview and figure out how to read. HW: Complete Notes on Magazine Technical Document.

Thu: Chart: How to set up reading response. Text of the Week - Mimic. Text Book look for text features and how you can use them. HW: Complete main ideas and details on textbook article.

Fri: First book club reading response: After reading, I wonder........(Minimum 5 sentences) Text of the Week - Illustrate and Reflect. Short Story(How do we keep track of one? HW: Depends on amount accomplished in class.
